The DA for OC is Tony Rackaucus.

THE ORANGE COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE HAS A FILE ON BFY/ DARREN DUDLEY.
http://www.orangecountyda.com/home/index.asp?page=161.

Amazingly, though, they have but one complaint regarding alleged misdeeds. Speak up folks. If they don't have a volume of complaints this company will not be scrutinized, and they might pop up again under a different name and stroke us all over again.
Go to the above web address, hit the link ECONOMIC CRIMES, hit the CONSUMER FRAUD drop down box, hit the HOW TO REPORT link in the left column, and left click the consumer complaint form. You have to sign the form, and send it in. You need not be local. If you want to call, 714 648 3626 is the number, the lady's name is Sally Gier. The Attorney General in Sacramento has heard nothing of this from anyone but myself, so they are uninterested. Per the officer I spoke to Anaheim PD they have had no complaints and BFY is still in business in good standing! Also, the Better Business Bureau has shut their file down for lack of response from Darren. So for everyone that thinks law enforcement shut BFY down, dream on. Apparently Darren has just left his post. I've lost $2300. I'm not vindictive and I'm not judging anyone until they are convicted by a jury, but I think we all agree that some law enforcement scrutiny is appropriate here. Unfortunately I've learned this week that law enforcement appears to be indifferent to the subject unless they hear from other folks who feel that they've been victimized.

To clarify. BFY is out of business. Darren was BFY, so if he left, BFY left. It's over, The fat lady has sung.

Was in the OC neighborhood today so I drove by BFY. All the names and logos that were on the ft windows of the store ft are all gone, looked thru the ft windows everything is gone except 3 empty show cases in the show room. All the pictures, parts, even the clock gone. Its now just an empty building.

I think that mean's he took a page out of another famous internet crook ( guess who) or two or three and milked it to the very end knowing full well that out of state or county buyers would not have much recourse in getting their monies back be it CC or otherwise. Failure for enough to act local and press charges no doubt means the likely hood of the DA building a case is about as likely as man made global warming at this point

Too bad I was rooting for the mob who got ripped to prevail on this one!

Don't you think that he'll be back in some other guise? Taking this kind of money and running out on creditors with no consequences is too lucrative for that.. What does a guy have to do to get arrested nowdays? Good grief. Then you have an army of legislatures writing scores of new laws every day..they can't handle basic stuff like this.

Deserving of an assbeating? definitely. Likely to happen? Probably not. The guy will face some sort of harsh brand of justice at some point, whether in this life or the next, though that doesn't help the people whom got fucked over in the meantime.

This is Corporate America. That's why as soon as some business start making money they become incorporated, if the business bombs, the owner is not liable for any bad debts, specially if he declares bankruptcy. he can keep his own assets, but it's the business that goes under. Now don't start writing five pages on different chapters of bankruptcy, just pointing out how it is all legal. I am self employed business owner and I have chosen NOT to become incorporated. Some people may consider this dumb, but I have integrity and if my business owes money, I owe money and I will pay. BTW, I don't owe anyone money.

hats off to ya, my man.... I'm the same, and for the same reason.. been called stupid myself, and it could be since all it takes is a determined asshole to put someone like you or me out, even if not legitimate, but I think like you...

hijack over..

I just ran across this thread today, and I would like to express my feelings on BFY. I have ordered from these guys for a long time and about two years ago I placed another order with them. My stuff finally arrived after three months. I was given the run around during that time and was told that some stuff was on back order. I was also told that part of my order was in the mail. Anyway, i was given the wrong shocks, and my tail light seals never came. I guess they are still on back order too.. Thank God we still have WW and some other reputable parts suppliers!! I hope the guys from BFY learn a lesson.. Life is a big circle, jackass!!!

It's been years since I checked this thread. I remember getting a lot of heat for posting this thread. Never thought it would turn out like this. I Feel bad for all the people that lost their time and money. I guess my complaint was legit after all.

I remember going to BFY alot in 2004 and 2005. I am a truck driver and would stop by there every time I was in southern Cal. I bought a ton of parts from Darren. In my opinion he was alittle quirky but I found him very entertaining. In fact I remember he had purchased these Swedish pumps that used a 36 horse power engine and one was sitting in the showroom. He actually talked to me about transporting them across country for him but it never panned out. I had left the hobby for awhile to concentrate on my trucking business only to be fustrated because I could not find the BFY website. Then I came back home, The Samba.com, and to my surprise read this thread. All I can say is wow... I would have never expected it to end like this. I miss the BFY I use to always make time for.

I agree with KDF I was shocked at what happened with BFY. When I first got seriously into the hobby they were one of the vendors I liked and trusted next to Wolfsburg West. Then their service became worse and worse along with no shipping notifications or tracking which only added to the frustration. Darren really let a lot us down sadly i'm just grateful I wasn't one of the ones who made a large purchase.
