Maybe? The rear window area looks weird to me but I don't know if there is another European car that looks that similar.

Our Samba Fastback friend KTPhil will likely comment on this shot, as he lives nearby and knows the area very well. A Fastback is parked in background, movie "Up in smoke" (1978). Main characters Cheech & Chong are parked on the curb in front of the Malibu Colony shopping plaza in California, facing east along Pacific Coast Highway (US 1). GoogleMaps shows a Ralph's supermarket at the far end now. The uphill in background goes up to Malibu Canyon Rd and Pepperdine Univ. I've passed by this location dozens of times in the '90's thru '10's on business to the Oxnard area.
White early Squareback in foreground, screen shot from one of the songs "Up where the air is thin" in movie "The cool ones" (1967). Bonus Porsche 356 Coupe behind it.

 I'm impressed you saw that Fastback since there's a pole there blocking it

KTPhil Fri Jan 03, 2025 9:46 am

Oh yeah, lots of nostalgia in these, thanks!

PCH in Malibu sure has grown! Oh, for the days of a lonely car with surfboards on the roof tooling along... now that area is a friggin' zoo!

And as for the second photo... that's the old Valley Music Theater! This super modern architecture gem was built in '63 on Chalk Hill in Woodland Hills.

It was a "theatre in the round" revolving stage and had some impressive acts in it's day. It later became a meeting hall for Jehovia's Witnesses, and more recently was demolished and condos are in its place... so Los Angeles of them!

https://losangelestheatres.blogspot.com/2024/07/valley-music-theatre.html

I saw Peter Pan with Mary Martin, which included a high-wire fly-in right over the crowd!

My older brother saw a show featuring the Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, and The Doors, and Iron Butterfly! In the Valley in the early '60s, back when it was mostly farms, orchards, and ranches! BB King, in the middle of white bread 'burb valley, OMG!

Then known as Cassius Clay, Mohammed Ali fought there several times.
