Your bus has the correct type of motor. Not positive on exact displacement a 69 would've had but im sure its been rebuilt and upgraded to a 1600. 1972 was the first year for the pancake motor(1700cc). The engine compartment is shaped different to allow for sealing the pancake motor correctly and it also was the first year that the rear apron was non-removable.

If it's stock,it should have a 1600cc inside.

I owned a '69 Campmobile for nine years until I sold it in May. Yes, it does indeed come with a 1600 cc single-port motor as stock. That motor is good enough to cruise at 60-65 mph on the highway, as long as the headwind isn't too strong! When it came to rebuild time, I switched to the dual-port heads and Kadron carbs for more power on mountain grades...so that is one option.

I've owned a 69 westfalia for about as long and switched it to dual port and put on a decent header and it will do 75 on the freeway.

cool..thanks for the responses. yea, im doin a cool 60-65 mph on the highways and byways, but i gotsta go around the mountains instead of over em.
