Total newbie here, please so please forgive me, but...
I have 1979 Transporter Bus that is fuel injected. I'm pretty sure my fuel pump isn't working. (1) Should I hear it working with the ignition on? (2) will this fuel universal fuel pump work: JDMSpeed Motor Universal High Pressure Fuel Pump 12v work? It's on Amazon for $32.99
Thanks in advance for any advice. |

The fuel pump will work when the ignition is on AND the AFM vane is pushed in. |

You can open up the air cleaner and use a wooden dowel rod to open the vane in the AFM meter while the ignition is on. |

Don't count on it, the cheap way out rarely works with vintage vehicles, can you post the flow and pressure specs for that product?
As already posted start by testing if poking a chopstick deep into the rectangular opening found under the air cleaner element while the key is in the run position makes the pump run, or at least makes a clicking noise from the LH side of the firewall above and in front of the engine, if not there's more tests to do. |
