View original topic: Questions about sliding door metal trim piece - Fitment

I'm redoing my entire interior in my '77 westfalia, and have new trim pieces, but didn't take as detailed pictures as I should have when I was disassembling everything. Hoping some of you that have original untouched originals can help me out by taking some pics of their van so I can see exactly how/where these pieces install.

#1
I'm curious how far back this metal trim piece extends, and also curious what the edge of the carpet looks like against the metal wall. The new piece I have from NLA is a few inches longer than the original. I'm assuming it should go just to the part that starts angling upwards, as the original has that little notch on the back side to coincide with this angle. So roughly sitting where I took the pic?

#2 - Again, same piece, but now i'm curious how far this piece extends into the front corner (since my new piece is longer), and also curious where your other piece (The one that runs 90deg to the sliding door one) sits? Which touches the corner? The long grooved one?

This pic is take from outside the van, looking in, with eye/camera level right at the floor. I'm assuming this metal trim piece should be flush with the floor metal and not have a little gap like mine currently has (I put in some sound deadening so it's currently a little too high I suspect). It wont' be an issue for most of this metal piece as there's that other white plastic trim piece that it attaches to, but not at the very front of the sliding door.

Thank you!

are there witness marks on the old one?

I'm putting new carpet in. I suspect I have more or less the correct location based on the old carpet, but I want to make sure it's 100% right. I've been spending a lot of time and money on my van. I want everything as factory as possible (Even though I have TDI swapped it lol)
