I like that car. The engine doesn't sound like it needs a rebuild. But I'm not there to analyze it.

Do Euro vans have an ODB2 (Whatever they are called) port connector?
If so. The codes can be read at just about any auto parts major chain store. That should help in diagnosing the issue.

Run the engine close to the floor. I run mine on a furniture dolly. That way it won't tip over.

n exhaust leak will cause a popping (Backfire) out of the exhaust tips.
Even pea shooters will do it.

You can connect a clean shop vac in blow mode. To the exhaust tips. And pressurize the exhaus ...

I use one all the time while doing distributors. I'm standing the entire time, but if i was up and down I would not.

I also wear one when working on my bicycles, it keeps my cloths clean.
