The VS muffler is not good for tuning your carburetor with a wideband. Look it up. Sell the VS muffler or hang it on the wall,and buy a 4 into 1 header and modify it with the pre-heat tubing to work ...

If you had a 4 into 1 header on your engine. You could buy or make one of the these O2 adapters with a homemade wideband, and your engine would tell you what it needs.

1½" will do just fine. Especially with a set of IDF´s

Didn't know 1-1/2 exhaust system, would work with stock size valves heads & IDF.'s. Cool

Tim is right about the tool. I also have a set in my tool box. Great for doing tire rotation. The tool also helps to install wheels like this.

76-79 type 1, bottom of the seat frames are all the same. Also Mk1 Rabbit's,etc. water-cooled vw's of the same time period, have the same setup.

If you truly want a daily driver that is more or less trouble free then a T4 is your bet, as alstrup said the exhaust on a t4 is the real pricey bit.

A complete 38mm exhaust system is what stopping ...

If it runs like new, why does it blow blue smoke? Did you do a leakdown test & a compression test??
