AS I recall there is an early and later piston..and the master rebuild kits have both. Measure your old seal and post the dimensions here?

I will look and see if I have an extra seal on the shelve. ...

It is/was a very common fault. Epidemic on the early 010s.

The improved piston with the solid pressed rod came in two lengths. A long and short. Depends on which drum the brake band runs on. Be su ...

The solution is to find a later used 010 transmission with the "improved piston" that is pressed tog ...

Looking at the notes concerning the noise it is possible your TC is worn. I have never seen the same issue but it is possible your TC is clunking.

Mechanically the TC is very simple and not prone t ...

I doubt your clunking noises are the TC or pump. The fluid change and temporary silence is interesting and likely not relevant.

I would think you should check the TC bolts and be sure they are tig ...

Just my 2 cents...That is a lot of swarf in the pan for 3k miles. It looks like fiber/friction material and some bright metals too.

It looks like the clutch pack(s) are wearing out rapidly.

Don't worry about the Blau coolant tank cap. Just get an OEM from the VW dealer. 025121321B about $10 from Jim Ellis VW. About $15 retail. Sleep well at night.

Just my opinion. For years the school of thought was to lubricate A/C "O" ring and fittings with PAG oil. No big errors there. It works okay. PAG oil is hygroscopic and can attract moisture ...

If the adhesive is not pliable enough during assembly the gaskets (rubber, ...

May not be a "head stud". As in cylinder head holding stud. Coolant would be flowing.

Post a pic?
