Double check your system voltage before going too far. I'd check the length of the brushes in the generator next, then maybe replace the VR, as that's the only thing I know that will chatter the conta ...

Interesting that this '71 has pop out rear side windows AND the flow-throw vent slots in the C-pillar.

Well, it is a Euro model, and probably has carbs as well. It also has RHD. Cool

Biggest part of the cost is determined by the amount of rust. The more rust you find, the more time and money it costs to fix. Sorry, but there's no way around that.
