Hang it by a cord and tap it with a metal. if it rings, it's forged. if it doesn't, its cast.

It's a modified aftermarket 36hp dog house shroud.... It's custom.

The DVDA changed every year so new parts are NLA and you have to salvage parts from good cores. The quality of the parts is not as good at the older and newer models.

If no flange stamp I'd go with a 034 SVDA.

Is the carb the original German Solex or a aftermarket replacement? Aftermarket won't have a flange number.

Many old points develop a film that will prevent them from working. A few swipes with a emory cloth will correct that.

Yes... they do fail. some sooner than others. install a set of points and condenser and that should fix your problem.

CIP is a catalog vendor. They take parts out of crates and put them in a box and slap a label on it.

They don't look at the part. So you're buying on price.
