As you say the later mid '57>are simple swapping the brake light wire top to bottom.

That's probably wont work, as the brake light wire carry also the turn signal and the indicator stalk do the ...

Does anyone know if EU spec lowlights are the same behaviour as US spec on the rear brake/tail/turn lights? Ive never came across an EU spec wiring diagram for lowlights....

A bit late to the party, but I have ordered from Merlin in the past without any issues with the VDO senders and they work on both 6v & 12v .

Well at the moment the 185mm sender is what I have in my tank...obviously too short.

I did find a NOS VDO 280mm sender here on The Samb ...

Embarassed I've been dragging my feet over fixing the fuel sender on my '58...fill it up and at best on reads 1/2 full...lots of fuel left when it reads empty.
