On the subject of fire damage, I installed my Blazecut fire extinguishing thingy. It's placement was highly influenced by those three bolts already being there.

I have a '74 also, beetles are absolutely great cars to learn with. $3600 isn't really a lot of money anymore. If it is reasonably rust free it might be a good deal.

That ultrasonic cleaner looks pretty neat, now I want one! I'm easily influenced. I would go with the machine oil idea. I put small drops of motor oil in mine, although they weren't as clean.

I agree with above post, the accelerator cable did not magically become shorter.

I see you already have a spacer under the carb; you still need to bend the linkage so it doesn't rub on your alterna ...

Make sure the metal tube through the fan shroud is actually going inside the flexible tube under the car, and not sitting up against the edge of it. It's easy to miss if you're not watching for it. W ...

I have one of those, I put a couple washers to take up the gap. The car runs fine, no complaints.
