Certain countries required separate amber turn signals, but not Germany, and this car has a D badge. It's possible a neighboring country required them and he travelled there.

White for both pinch welt and hinge cover.
Later, only black covers were available, but you can paint them a matching white like I did a few decades ago. Use a plastic-compatible paint or primer.

Some masters require a metal washer under that rubber stopper. I'm not sure which, but if it was missing the extra space might allow leaks.
