I also noticed the WW says that their seal is for "left or right". The original seals are not symmetrical like that -- they are mirror images of another shape.

when the window is closed, does latches and slides protrude into the rear area? would it scalp a sleeper turning over on a bed?

Yes the slides do. I have hit my head on it while the hatch is open ...

It's simple. Remove upholstery and cut the head rest off. I welded a cross bar in and re-upholstered with 67 style covers and new horse hair pads.
