Sorry, you are not getting to that with the above mentioned tricks. There is no room. Drill out the spot welds that attach the shock tower to the frame.

Only works if you have a 79-85 Dodge panel van. Bus's have a cool factor that makes them immune to such evils.

Local new car dealer is painting 20 year old Hondas in house and putting them on the lot for $10K ,and getting it. You own the Suby and it's serviceable, case closed.

They are less horrible than other new cars. make sure you still have a machine shop in your area. Many parts of the country no longer provide that service. I'd fix it if I was an owner of such machine ...
