Also note: that when I welded in the height extension, I made sure that the tube at the top was positioned "level". The low cost engine stands have them cocked slightly up hill.

What would be the cross reference part number for the bearings? Can not find any SKF or FAG numbers online. I am sure that they sold them "aftermarket" also and not only thru VW

The maximum no-play zone works out to be a 1/2 turn left to a 1/2 turn right. Minimum of 1/3 turn left to a 1/3 right.
To say another way:
(CP means center point)
