By the way, I ran it into town and it felt pretty good, but needed to hold the pedal down for a warm start. I read that this is operating standard. Can someone confirm? Normal for Type 1?

The reason nobody has done it is because of fitment. Sideways carburetors have no place large enough to mount in an air cooled VW body, where the upright carbs will. If you somehow get rid of the upri ...

The 34 carburetor and 009, even if stock and of good quality, when paired together, give less than great results. Add to that it's a Chinese 34 carburetor of unknown quality, and 009 distributor of un ...

A W110 should idle pretty well. I have that cam in mine, and it idles smoothly at 900 rpm. You may have had other issues if the idle is rough.

Youíre not running the stock carb correct? W110 is a l ...

That one is different underneath, as that is a Super Beetle. A Standard Beetle from 1974 (or any year, really) will have the flat dash that can be made to look older.

Or, if you are intent on a Sup ...

I would probably just re-index them if the rear is sagging. Replacement springs, in my experience, including VW and Non-VW applications, almost always result in a different, harsher ride. The spring r ...
