I would just take the precaution to put some through bolts to connect the outer shell to the inner shell because the sealent holding it down is where the inner shell mates to the body.

Hi Jake!

Yes you would be correct about the later model seat. For that Vanagon L interior it would have been a smooth brown vinyl seat w/o headrests (if my memory serves correctly.)
