Your bearing movement is normal and not related to axle tube to transaxle case adjustments. The wheel bearings need the covers to be installed in order to hold the bearing and axle in place.

No, the stale air 40hp heat riser flanges are the same as the fresh air. Only the heat exchanger pipes changed from stale to fresh.

That manifold is for 36hp with fresh air heating up from 12/1962. The flanges from the preheat are the symmetrical ones that connect the later 40hp muffler! and won't fit a real 36hp muffler. Compare ...
