The other side of the carb has an idle cutoff solonoid, if it doesn't work and open when you turn on the key it won't idle. You will need a dead carb for that part or get a bright flashlight and find ...

HUMMM, That seems like a new ground path. Just think you are racing another buggy and as you grab 2nd the motor gets struck by lightning, you would be toast. Wink I would just put in a Berg shifter.

Those are the result of a non polorized VR, The gen was acting like a motor and when it couldn't turn the motor it had a melt down.

You said you ran the ground wire and purple wire to neg. side of coil...that's your problem the neg. side isn't a ground.

Make a heat shield for it or wrap it with cermic header tape. It will bubble your paint without something.

After you get the new threads in don't forget to use a high temp. anti seize on the plug threads so you don't pull the new threads out.
