In the mountains I am always running in third gear on steep grades. Subaru's run great at 5,000 rpm all day long.

I just had this issue. Ran two bottles of seafoam through the IACV in my 90 EJ22 and changed out the MAF sensor, cleaned the air filter and it's idling like a champ again. Good luck.

I bypassed the resistors and installed a PWM variable speed switch. We love it! And no more resistors and gobbling up all the power to just waste as heat.

The only true 4WD Syncro's have the viscous coupler removed and a solid shaft in it's place. This takes away from the AWD capabilities of the van but has better off-road performance.

Sounds like the IACV or IAC or Air Idle Control Valve?

When the engine is cold it should idle up to help get warm quicker. Mine usually sits around 1200 rpm then slowly settles down to 750 rpm.

I have everything back in place. Back to Black and Lexol made the plastic look normal again. I used plastic polish on it first.

Only the leather on the Recaro seat still shows my lesson in life.
