Well i put in 300 ml of oil via my intravenous setup and cranked it over and on second crank over it built up 22 psi on gauge!!!!

So, the engine started and you saw zero oil pressure or it didn't start?
yes started and saw zero pressure on gauge when this all first started

if you did not prime the pump with oil, it is not going to pick up anything. It will spin forever without pulling oil. You only have to learn that once in your life.

Be 100% sure you put it in so ...

Sure the tang on your new pump is engaging in the slot in the cam?
Yes the tang is engaged, I also cranked the eng over when the type1 pump was in with the cover plate off and the gears were spinning ...

ask Whip618 if he has any blueprinted ones for sale. Don't go back down the type 1 pump in a type 4 engine route again. That is what the last person tried.

Well, you definitely have a pump problem but it should have created pressure. Whatís the cam gear slot look like?

Your pump is scrap. Put the drive gear shaft in a vise and grab the toothed gear with some pliers and see if it spins on the shaft.

Do you have any history on this engine? Might be that the oil pump drive tang was just barely engaging the cam slot and it finally wore away or maybe the pressed on drive gear is now spinning on the ...

no - the pump puts out enough volume that something should have come out the sender hole when you were cranking. If you have oil and the pump is turning there should be oil gushing from the sender ...

Did you crank the engine over with the sender off the hose and the hose aimed into a catch can? If not crank it for two or three seconds max and turn it off. See if the pump puts out when you do that ...

sorry 1978 1.8l type 4 FI with 4 speed
update-removed flex line at top of eng, right by dist.-hose is clear, cranked over and no oil coming out of gallery
