In California and the Southwestern states, a 1970 Beetle is not rare at all. But back East, they are most certainly rare—at least from a local counting of these cars.

Or, you could restore the original vent system. It’s not that difficult, and you won’t have a vent of gas fumes coming from the front of your car.

Victor, we have a guy here in Redding that rebuilds heads for $75 a pop. When the time comes for a rebuild, I’ll have him do mine.

Replace the clamps, too, when you order the two rubbers for the filler pipe and tank pipe ends. Wolfsburg West sells them.

Cut the WW hose you have to the same length as your old and busted hose. ...

If you read Cipi1’s information on that cheap SVDA, they say it doesn’t work with an H30/31, anyway.

Wolfgang International also rebuilds engines. A couple years ago, they quoted me $2600 for a stock 1600 rebuild. Probably closer to $3000 today.

Ash, he has a 1974 Super Beetle. I’ve replaced the switches in my ‘74 Super Neerle, and they had two terminals.

Call Wolfsburg West, or West Coast Metric. Both have the best rubber for Windows. Maybe they will measure for you.
