I picked up my 87 westy for $5200 about 3 years ago. Flew out to NJ to pick it up and drove it back to Colorado with not a tool to my name. Since I've put about 12K in to it, Suby, Trans, Wheels, etc ...

My 87 did the same thing, had to finally get new (used) actuators one for each of the front doors. Haven't had problems since.
