Regarding the crank Iíve seen this before and the bearing being softer material will polish right off. Doesnít look burned or scored

Grind them off with a 90 degree die grinder and replace with the earlier style. Do not use urethane coupler. So going back together youíll need a new coupler and bolts.

For what itís worth here I am removing one and itís supposed to be interference fit. You could flatten out the rounded end to make it fit tighter and it would probably work but since weíre not there ...
