If I remember right, the sender adds resistance which actually makes your gauge read lower. So when the sender is disconnected, the gauge reads full deflection. So check to make sure the wire between ...

The breather hose pumps oil vapor. You donít want that in a vapor can. It plumbed wrong.

Actually pull the wire off the switch and touch it to the engine case or any good ground. The dash light should come on

If it happens again and you're stuck you can usually get the starter to crank by touching a screwdriver to the starter solenoid.
