When I registered my Bus in CA from MN at AAA they checked the pink slip and the VIN on the dash. Not sure how DMV would behave.

Huh?

The engine number means nothing for registering your bus. The important number is the VIN# on your dash, VIN# on your title (pink slip), and the VIN# on the sticker inside the door jamb on ...
