My Beetle engine is 1641cc (Dual Port) is using a Engle 110 camshaft, and the
compression ratio is set 8:2:1. Vintage Speed exhaust.

If I use a 91 Octane, the engine tends to splutter when I turn ...

I had my VW Mechanic lower the front end 15 years ago, would that affect the turn radius?

All seems good , the handling of the Beetle at high speeds on the freeway is better than the stock stuff.

I'm using 5.5 Mangels rims with 195/60 R15 rubbers.

Steering seems a little cumbersome. And turning feels like I'm on a battleship.

Driving it at high speeds on the highway feels great though.

My engine is a bit loud. It does have a pillow stuffed in the pillar are just to the left and right of the engine bay.

Yes I have a magnetic drain plug. Used one for 15 years or longer. Great stuff. Do you clean it in metho spirit or rub a bit of grease in it to try and tease out the old metal dirt?

I examined the two of them. The old one has a fine wire mesh and maybe the opening hole is a bit bigger.

The new CB strainer wire mesh is stronger but not so fine.

I sent it to my veteran vw mechanic this morning. He adjusted the carb jet by a bit to let in more fuel. But now the engine tends to stall when idle.

I blamed it on my driving style - pumping gas when the revs are not high enough.
