What make/model are you dual carbs?

Normally, the mixture of air+fuel passing thru the intake will wick heat from the intake manifolds. This is the same way gasoline or alcohol on your skin feels ...

Describe what part of the manifold are you talking about.
If it is directly below the carb then yes it will be cool.

Thanks to all again. I did torque the nuts to the correct specs but did not rotate by hand. Seems to be running fine at present but time will tell.

Thicker gasket goes between the pump body and engine case.

Thinnest (about .003") between pump body and cover.

In a pinch can make the second out of thin yellow pages paper or paper gasket ...

It's a balance tube. It helps keep all 4 cylinders to get fuel at idle. All single throat dual carbs need them for idle
