Oh yeah. They are thinner. The weight difference might surprise you. I havenít actually havenít done a weight to weight comparison but I could tell right away the original is much thicker.

What Wildthings said. Vin on vehicle to match vin on title. Many old VW's no longer have their "original " engine. Who cares? We are not talking about a 1967 Z-28 or 69 Hemi Cuda here!

Glad to hear it went smoothly with DMV. I have used AAA Registration service on a"special" vehicle before and that went smoothly as well.

1969 Pearl White. I had paint shop mix up Omni MTX for me. ( Single Stage) VW paint code is L87. Brand Code for Omni is 8237. Main Layer 8237.

As far as the VIN is concerned, could the "4" been mistaken for an"H"? Pretty close looking when stamped in metal.

It's too bad CA stopped the rolling smog exemption. For this reason my non daily drivers are all older models, smog exempt.

That bus was a good candidate to get up and running, say maybe 25 yrs ago?

Did you try filing the front edge of the shoes a bit? Sometimes this helps get the drum started then you can jimmy it on.
