my old 1.6TD with air cooled transaxle had no problems keeping up with traffic or mountain/hills on the eastern seaboard.
I did have to change to the smaller K14 turbo else I wouldn't be able to reb ...

I concur and I'll add that those little straps will NOT contain a battery in anything greater than a round-about..

Dave, you need to get the proper Mexican blanket to cover that rear seat bench.

that's how I have and have had mine wired for ~15years..
though with a onboard fridge & furnace I use 2 deep cycle aux batteries.
all married together.

I'd probably just drill out the old one and rethread that hole. forget the easy outs and just hog it out.
