I would estimate that I am getting the same relationship that you are. I did not notice any change when the torque converter was replaced along with the new transmission.

There is a lockout in the automatic shifter (neutral safety switch).

Look at the plug end of the connector and you will see a notch in the plastic above the tab in question. A small nail or large paper clip is pushed in there.

Isn't the dash lighting connected to each? Probably jumps through the radio plug.
