I would estimate that I am getting the same relationship that you are. I did not notice any change when the torque converter was replaced along with the new transmission.

The flashing light and pegged sensor is from the coolant level sensor in the coolant expansion tank. Maybe a wire loose or an old cruddy sensor. Simple and easy to get to.

There is a lockout in the automatic shifter (neutral safety switch).

Wiggling the shifter around will cause it to change modes. (starting or not starting).

Look at the plug end of the connector and you will see a notch in the plastic above the tab in question. A small nail or large paper clip is pushed in there.
