Not exactly sure what "slip" is supposed to mean. I guess a pipe inlet instead of a screw fitting there. Regardless, the images in your link have the screw style inlets... so in addition ...

Running a 12V choke heating element on 6V may still work, but it might not fully heat up and take a very long time to do so.

I'm pretty sure the H30/31PICT only comes with 12V components. So it ...

First of all, it's electric choke. Electronic implies "logic" and that sort of thing , and this is just a heating element, it's not a "smart choke" . As for the idle cutoff solen ...

Both 1300 and 1500 piston and cylinder parts are uncommon and have been since the 1970s. Ever since then it's standard to just go with 1600.

I've talked extensively over the years about how st ...

The timing gear pitch radius is a way to correct for slightly different center-lines between the crankshaft and camshaft bores.

Put the crank in the case with its bearings. Along with the cam y ...

Some numbers I'm interested in knowing here.

The full part number of the intake manifold.

The Modification State Number of this carburetor. It should be on the base flange of the carb on the ...

I don't think oil starvation would cause this, especially since you say you don't see signs of it on the bearings.

So, it was a German Forged crank that got built up then. Not one I would expect t ...

They were Silver Beige for a few years before 1965, but that's not the era being talked about here so I didn't mention it.

I thought the adaptors were only used to put the smaller carb like the 30pict or h30/31 on the dual port manifold.

Yes, that is the common adapter. Hell I have a few of them and run one on my B ...

I doubt this engine is a 1300 single port engine any more, because a 34PICT-3 will not bolt onto a 1300 single port intake manifold. What kind of intake manifold do you have here??

I was going to guess Cloud White like the Headliner, and looking in the Factory Parts Manual from Aug 1971, that looks to be the case.

In my experience, when you have a shock sleeve stuck to the mounting stud, you use an air chisel applied at an outward angle.

IMO, the oil bath filtration system is every bit as good, or even better, than a paper sandwich filter. As long as your oil bath filter still fits properly on your carburetor, I would keep it.

Glutamodo I know I am in TDC now. My dizzy was 180 off on the drive so I was originally on second stroke. I rebuilt it tonight so it's no longer 180 off.

Cool, glad you got that sorted. Cool

The 006 vs 008 valve adjustment doesn't even matter just start the engine.

Back when short stud conversions came out, VW's spec for such was actually .004" cold. VW retconned this specifi ...
