I'd be interested to see how this turns out. I have a '69 as well that I thought about putting in an early model tank. But I go back and forth on wanting to cut

My dad gave me my Squareback around '88 to start working on, and I still have it to this day. He was the second owner and I think bought it in the early '80s.

Not to disrupt the thread, but is it recommended to use castle nuts on this, and if so, where can they be purchased? Mine just has normal nylon lock nuts.

Did a little more practice this evening. Kind of getting the hang of it. Although it seems like the base of the flare is a little uneven, hopefully that doesn't affect the seal at all.

Threaded NPT oil galley plugs do work well.
