What size metal line is common? Can a normal brake line work? 3/8"

Do most use a shepherds hook steel vacuum line to their carburetor? Are they needed?

If so, I saw the video on how to make, but do any vw vendors sell them?

Am I/was I supposed to feed the speedo cable thru the slit in the panel? And also the turn signal harness?

Not put wipers on a bus before. What is considered the proper placement at their off and resting position?

The photo below is what I have them at now. Wondering if this is right or wrong? ...
