I use a silver paint made for brake calipers on my windshield wiper arms. It drys to a nice matte finish and might be suitable for your air cleaner parts that were originally cad plated.

Remove the cap and rotate the shaft as you push the distributor down to engage the drive in the slot. It only goes one way.

That's a good starting point. You may want to bump the idle jet up to a 60 if you find that you're running a bit lean.
Check your sparkplugs after a few hundred miles...should look similar to this ...
