I have both early and late ev seats and I think the only difference is in the seat rails / slider adjustment. The seats should basically be the same concerning seat covers.

The heater core was changed a few years ago by a shop. I wonder if something was reinstalled incorrectly.

I will inspect/clean everything as I get access to it ...

It was the relay. I swapped it with the original from my 84 Vanagon and everything works as it should now. I will install another VW 99 relay with programmable delay when I get around to it.
