I recently rebuilt the 1600 in my '73 Super Beetle. With it I installed a cam (CB "Cheater), but left it pretty much stock. I've read that you can get significant horsepower and efficiency gains ...

I rebuilt the 34PICT-3 myself and it ran pretty good. I sold the Kads, so perhaps I'll look into dual Webers, but how would that setup effect my fuel economy? I'm trying to maintain my 30 MPG's (or at ...

I'm probably going to be upgrading to either single or dual Webers.

Right now in terms of exhaust I have a set of 1-5/8" headers with a single EMPI glass pack.

The engine started rattling and knocking really bad so I pulled it apart to diagnose and discovered a spun cam bearing (indicated originally by metal in the oil). So, now I'm on the fast track for a r ...

My '73 spun a cam bearing and is currently undergoing cleaning and inspection at the local machine shop. I'm stepping up the game a little bit with a 1641cc set of liners and pistons, and once I find ...

I'm trying to decide on a carburetor setup for my currently stock 1600DP in my 1973 Super Beetle. Currently, it has a 34 PICT-3, runs good, but the only issue is that it's a dog on the freeway. I can ...

I think it's an inevitability for Volkswagen owners that at some point in their lifetime, they'll have to remove the engine once or twice, or more!

I'm on my first attempt, meaning I have absolutel ...

I have a spacer for my new 34 Pict-3 carburetor since the pump linkage is hitting the alternator body. This will require longer studs for the carburetor, I assume?

If so, How do the old studs come ...

I figured it out. For some odd reason, the choke was the cause of the issue. When I adjusted the choke downwards about 1/8", it fired right up without any issue.

Figured out the issue with both the voltage, and the fuel. The connections on the relay were a bit corroded, causing some excessive resistance. Cleaning those up brought my voltage up from 10V to 12V. ...
