I think it's an inevitability for Volkswagen owners that at some point in their lifetime, they'll have to remove the engine once or twice, or more!

I have a spacer for my new 34 Pict-3 carburetor since the pump linkage is hitting the alternator body. This will require longer studs for the carburetor, I assume?

If so, How do the old studs come ...

What gauge is the wire supposed to be that comes from the positive terminal on the coil, to the idle solenoid and eventually to the choke, and is this a resistance wire? If so, what should the resista ...

Figured out the issue with both the voltage, and the fuel. The connections on the relay were a bit corroded, causing some excessive resistance. Cleaning those up brought my voltage up from 10V to 12V. ...

I traced an ignition coil voltage issue back to that relay, and cleaned up the connections, bringing the measured voltage at the coil from 10v to 12v. I'm wondering if bypassing that relay entirely wo ...

In the meantime ...

Would valve adjustments have any effect on compression? I just set my valves but I have to double check and make sure I did them correctly. I set each one to about 0.006 clearance
