I've read about clearing a clogged filter hole at the top of transaxle. Just can't seem to find the hole. Any thoughts on this?

The T shaped piece will induce a stress riser where the notch is, a flat plate won't have such issues. I have no experience with either design directly.

Is the front inner CV joint is thicker? Or why VW used standard M8x50 allen bolts instead of the rear M8x48 XZN?
There is a spacer between the CV and the drive flange necessitating longer bolts.

If you want to sleep up top as designed by westfalia you need to do a roof graft, the roof line is different. There are different ways to do it but it isn't an easy 2 day job for any version of it. :w ...

An adventurewagon is a modified hardtop vanagon. Putting a poptop on it is a decent sized job.

That looks like the steering wheel casting, what is under the rubber.
I don't see a washer in the parts manual, never noticed one in a vanagon or eurovan.

Drill around the metal bushing in the center until it is loose and hammer it out. Once the metal sleeve is out the rubber is easy to push out.

US eurovans have the 4 spoke steering wheels but there are 2 spoke steering wheels for the platform overseas. The ones that people want are factory leather wrapped as yours appears to be.
