I used the POR 15 exhaust coating that is silver/gray and after probably 8-10 years it still is a silver/gray color.

I would think the reasoning behind calling them 481 is because the first digit in VW's model #s is the type. 1=type 1, 2=type 2, 3=type 3 and 4=type 4.
