Do I only have to remove the bolts along the outside of the body, and can I raise it high enough that way (without removing anything else on the car) to cut out the rear floor pans?

It sounds like you have a short in that circuit, your best bet is to PM ASHMAN40, he is the wiring/electric guy.

What size/diameter is the fuel line? I will order some with SAE J-30R9 specs.
