How much weight can you put on the roof and still pop the top?

i think the HD pop top struts are rated for some fairly heavy roof loads

you're missing the screws/bolts that go horizontally into the wood frame of the pop top as well...

My 84 has never had them (if this is what you're referring to). Did later Westies use those holes ...

seeing you're kind of starting "fresh" with a new ECU i would diagnose any issues you were having as if the system was 100% stock. that will let you weed thru some of the b/s

that is a very clean Westy. if it runs and does not have hidden rust under a respray, you should buy it.

I checked the data on the Tacoma 4x4 capacity with factory tow package, it displays 5034kg or 11,000 lbs.


that may be the total gvwr

but a quick google suggests a 2010 tacoma can tow 3500lbs ...

In the meantime I've removed the rack from the van. Two of the large screws were hard to remove, so I damaged them a bit. Might replace them with stainless, or try to paint them.
