I just went and looked at half a dozen vent windows that I have from a 68 and a 70. Not one had two, two had one and the rest none including my unmolested 68 that Iím restoring.

My understanding is that VW did use non-metric threads for seat belt mountings as that thread pitch a universally accepted standard for seat belts. Thread size is 7/16" UNF.
