Pans can be installed with the body off but you still have to lift the body a little.

The Pertronix SVDA I got ~7 years ago idled at TDC when set to 30 degrees at 3500rpm (vac line plugged).

Hi and welcome!

You can do the pans body-on, just have to notch out a few small sections of the outer edge for clearance.
I did it that way on my '70, worked fine.

Looks fine. You could run an oil filter pump to CYA and keep the bearings better for much longer to boot.
