Just an FYI- your fuel pump looks like the economy Brazilian one. It doesn't have "C" clip retainers on the rocker pin.

Tbh, the only faults I've had on my VWs were my fault, not the car's.

The problem with the vast majority of the new (cheap) fuel pumps is they put out 4.5PSI and up. Some have been known to put out over 6psi. The other thing about those pumps is they don't last long or ...

That's a Brazilian economy, low cost fuel pump. You can see the rocker pin is only peened in place vs. the quality pumps which have "C" ...

Nothing wrong with a "good" mechanical pump. Less complicated, less chance of fire and they can handle 150hp.
