At the pro level snowboarding is very physically demanding. But, you don't see 40 year old folks still competing at a high level in the half pipe and park. Most are just riding powder out of a helicopter by that time.

Who was Beau Didrikson & what else did Bob Gibson do besides pitch?

Multiple Olympic track and field medalist and 10x LPGA WINNER

Gibson was both a Basketball and baseball standout

I got the Gibson one but I only remember Babe Didrikson. Who's Beau?

Have you been snowboarding? Don't tell me that's not a sport Laughing

Agree on the rest of your post. Primetime!

You left out The Rifleman, Chuck Connors. He played for both the Dodgers (Brooklyn) and Cubs as well as the Celtics.

That’s a good one!

Like Shaun White at 36. He can still hang with the young kids.

That was my thought, also. Those guys are still two of the best at their sport, but they are not and cannot still compete at the top level.

Since Glenn can’t come up with old cycling athletes that haven’t been disqualified for doping in his sport. I’ll help.

At 47 years old in 2014, Dutchman Lex Nederlof can rightly claim to be the oldest active rider on a UCI-registered team. That’s bad ass!

Shaun White was on the 2022 Olympic team at 36. He was still better than most competitors much younger than he. Think of all the younger folks that couldn’t even qualify for the Olympics.

I didn't remember this being a "still competing at top level" post? Tony Hawk had 17 years as a pro, at age 31 landed a move nobody else could do. Landed it again at age 43 for the last time and announced his retirement. Over 10 years later (2021) came out of retirement and competed at a super high level against the worlds best. Placed 4th.

I'm sure some people don't think of skateboarding as a sport but on page one gramps mentioned a coked up ̶w̶r̶e̶s̶t̶l̶e̶r̶ ̶ actor Laughing

So is 36 considered old? If Tony Hawk placed fourth at the pro level in his 50's that definitely counts for something.

I consider 36 to be old when competitors in their prime are 20-25 in a sport. Keep in mind world champions start around 16 years old. Shaun has been boarding at an elite level since his teens.

Tony Hawk is one bad mofo for sure.

Snow boarding is for when you are in an Arctic climate with a suspect and you need unreliable information , quickly.

Labron at 38 still plays like he's in his 20's.
He said he will stay an play in the NBA at leas one year with his son Bronny.
That means Labron will be at least 40 before he considers retirement.
Sounds like he has a plan.

Not that it's easy, but drag racing isn't an athletic sport.

Hershel McGriff was racing stock cars at age 90 (not a typo).

As I recall, his daughters look pretty athletic!
