Dash Ashtray Substitute

I could have sworn I came across a pic on here where there were climate knobs (2 of them) where currently I have a pullout ashtray. Not sure if this was from a previous model or a one off mod. Ultimately, I’d like to delete the ashtray and replace with either the climate control bezel and insert two additional gauges or find a blank dash piece that I could cut to fit, I’ve searched here and online and cannot seem to find, only a month in on ownership of my ‘01 Westy so some noob rules may apply

Did you figure out how to do this? I'm thinking of doing a similar mod.

There has been some good dash mods on that thread. I have a 2001 EVC so my dash and HVAC controls are different from a Westy Weekender, but it's still possible to do what I've done.

I found that using the ashtray to be the support for the ScanGauge 3 was the best approach. Also, I deleted my rear heater.
