Quick questions about the brake lights:
-The master cylinder has 3 ports on the front. I assume one for each front brake line and one for the switch. If that's right, then I plan to put the switch in a port on the left side facing down at a 45 degree angle.
-The wire to and out of the switch is 12v or ground. Seems like it should be 12v.

Thanks and I did search, did not feel like going through 356 results

If you want a brake switch that lasts a lot longer than the OG type, try one of these - https://www.ecihotrodbrakes.com/inline-brake-light-switch . The switch never sees the brake fluid. You just need 2 1/8 npt to 1.0 brake line adaptors. https://www.carbuilder.com/uk/male-adapter-m10-x-1mm-f-to-18-npt-2 Tom

Typically (most that I have seen) has brake light switch in the end port....

Mine does not look like that. It is for a dual master cyl reservoir and has 5 ports. A quick search shows I probably have one for a super beetle with 4 wheel disc brakes, 20.6 mm. EMPI 2-2808.

I also have that master.

Yes the TWO downward angled holes are for the two brake light switches.

Do you think I could just use 1 and plug the other?

IF so it takes dual switches if used in standard application...

Yes you can plug one. Empi does have a 10 x 1 plug for that.

That being said.....I have not had much luck with the plug.. ..I had a two pack and neither seated and sealed right (leaked).
I wound up putting the second switch in the hole and bam.....no problems.

All depending on your electrical needs....warning lights ect.....you can choose a two pole or three pole.

I did not make an alarm light.....so two of the two poles to wire in parallel, so that either one can make the brake light circuit.

I only use one switch on my buggy. I took one of the brake light switches to a good old-fashioned hardware store and got a brass plug to match the threads. It's been leak free for about 10 years now.

This is the plug I used. I actually used 3 of them, one on each brake switch plug and one on the top outlet of the dual circuit master cylinder. The brake switch ones because I installed a mechanical switch on the pedal arm. The upper one so I could mount the Volvo master cylinder reservoir "backwards" with the side flat toward the firewall, because it's a bit shapely forward.

I see that number is out of stock now, you might be able to use BQ19, it is in stock and 3/8-24, that size *almost* interchanges with M10, but you cannot torque it too much or it strips.

Or you could install both switches, use just one, and have one in place for one fails...which they always seem to.

Great Ideas...
I am looking for a double male adapter that is like a brake line on both ends. M10x1.0 by M10x1.0 Male/Male. Seems simple to find but for some reason I cant. If I have to use a short brake line, I will. Its to install the EMPI residual pressure valves I have.

Plug off both ports and use one of these, they provide noticably faster brake lights and the microswitch is much more reliable than the non-German hydraulic switches sold now. https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2140061

I needed a male-male brake line adapter and just made a brake line 3" long.
