That paint is so awesome it is hard to photograph; most digital cameras and monitors cannot capture the color and gradations correctly (gamut issue, too). it looks even better in person, I bet.
And sir, just when will you be driving by to get a "pair of cute girls" shot with Clemmie?!

Yup, it looks sweet. You probably should have driven it in the rain to find any water leaks though. That's the last thing you want to have happen while out on a cruise loaded up with the stuff, only to find stuff got wet when caught in a rain storm (yes that does happen from time to time). _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Funny, that's exactly what I did after ISPwest finished Clemmie's restoration! We had a wet year (unusual until again this year here), and I gave it a helluva test! Not a drop! |

First big trip back in the day with the 62 resto was a shit rainy day drive from Poway to Pomona. December 2003. Russel photo bomb again.

Congratulations, and well done. That car deserves the recognition it will get with ALL of the time you've put into it. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Thanks for all of the kind words, everyone!
I gotta do what Martin did and take the after pictures from the same angle as the before pictures. I'll try to do that soon.
More updates in the works. I still have things to do... _________________ 1963 Notchback - Ruby Red

Next I started to repair the holes and that large missing chunk using some expanding insulation foam. I recommend gloves as this stuff does not want to come off of fingers. I smeared it into the holes and then used an orbital sander to take down the high spots, and an 80 grit block to finish it.
|
Know what else that stuff doesn't want to come off? Long hair tied in a pony tail. Ask me how I know.
I am DEVOURING this thread. So many things you're doing to this car that I need to do to mine. Of course, my work will be spread out over the rest of my life, but.. _________________ 1964 Type 3 Notchback

I was fortunate enough to grab this NOS engine lid from Mario. He also had the NOS insulation, in the paper bag, that he offered to go with it. I probably won't find another NOS insulation again...but you never know.
The top itself is pretty clean. The underside looks brand new. The insulation has a really neat diamond pattern. I installed it under the latches, and popped a few clips in. Still a few more clips to dig out, but it's pretty much ready to go in.
Sorry NOS Gods, but time for this thing to go into a car.

Read through the whole thread and man that is one amazing car you got there now, and to keep the history and its past owners in it astounding. This was most inspiring to keep hammering down on mine. _________________ It's gotta run cool and easy with a little pleasing.
